To all who have issues with the new system, does it help when you factor in how the most skilled dwarf in the pool of "job seeking dwarves" is always chosen to do an open task for that skill? In fact I'd go as far as saying you could have just left the old labor management and added the new one on top of it for no negative effect. You could even add the new default behaviour to the old system and lose no functionality. Without that kludge I suspect the current system would be just as complex as the old system or moreso. The "Everyone does everything all the time" default is doing a lot of the heavy lifting for the new system. Now I have to invent the concept of "dwarf who is good at bonecrafting and not necessarily other crafting, or any other skills for that matter" and define Urist as a dwarf who falls under that category. I just selected Urist and enabled the Bonecrafting labor. But I swear theres something about that program that makes people forget whats actually in the game.Īnyway, Previously if Urist suddenly became good at Bonecrafting despite otherwise never doing any crafting. I eventually came to like Dwarf Therapist after over a decade of playing DF without it. You've never needed any external programs to do any of what I'm talking about. this menu really needs some work, in my opinion

Im considering discontinuing use of the default labours and using custom only so I can have some idea of what's happening, but that's a bit of work, and there doesn't seem to be a way to change the custom role icons or delete the defaults. Does carprentry fall under engraving or farming roles maybe.? Has anyone figured this out? I might assume this would fall under 'woodcutting", but i have only one assigned to that. Somehow, all of my dwarves will use the carpenters workshop, and so I have a bunch of dabblers. Why would it not let you edit or even LOOK at them? Am I missing something here? I have no idea way to tell which labor assignments correspond to the default labor sets, other than the name and the icon. Granted, labours in vanilla were a pain and basically required using therapist, but still. It looks like they ripped out any way to change or check specific labours. Really confused by this menu now as a longtime player. Kitfox Discord #modding-discussion channelīronzemurder and Oilfurnace (illustrated)
